Investigation underway to identify body of child found in Schenectady

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) - Friday marks the fourth day since family members became concerned with the well-being of four-month-old Rayen Puleski. The baby hasn’t been seen in a month.

Schenectady Police are still waiting for the results of an autopsy.

Fears of what happened to Rayen continue after a medical examiner arrived to claim a child’s body on Thursday at 766 State St., a known location where Rayen and his mother Heaven lived.

Flowers now lay on the street outside the State Street home. It still remains an active site for police on Friday.

Police are still calling it an active investigation and are waiting on results of an autopsy to see if the body is indeed Rayen's.

Family and neighbors say they haven’t seen the baby in a month.

“The last time I’ve seen him was in June.”

Red flags came only when his aunt was contacted by Child Protective Services.

“I had to make it public nobody was trying to do anything to help me.”

Throughout the search the family has painted the mother as an addict, even assisting police in locating her.  She has several arrests stemming from drug use.

The family says CPS has actively been involved in not only the case of baby Rayen but two of Heaven’s other children.

Police interviewed the mother for several hours Wednesday, but Friday it’s unclear where she is and whether charges will be filed.
