The Albany Police Department arrested a man they say assaulted a 71-year-old woman last month on Lenox Avenue.
Police say on January 4 at around 9:30 a.m., the victim was walking on Lenox Avenue near Greenway with her husband when 40-year-old Arie Patterson struck her from behind with a blunt object. Her husband was not injured during the incident.
The victim received a laceration to her head and was taken to Albany Medical Center for treatment.
Police say Patterson was also arrested in connection with an assault that happened on Wednesday, February 6 at around 3:45 p.m. on North Pearl Street in the area of State Street.
During that incident, Patterson is accused of walking up to a woman and struck her in the chest, causing her to fall to the ground. The 57-year-old victim sustained pain and a contusion to her chest.
Patterson was charged with two counts of second-degree assault, one count of third-degree assault, and one count of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
He was arraigned and remanded to Albany County Jail.
