PFOA Activist Michael Hickey invited to State of the Union

Local

As President Doanld Trump delivers his State of the Union address on Tuesday, one local man at the center of the PFOA water crisis will be at the U.S. Capitol to watch it live.

Michael Hickey confirmed to NEWS10 ABC that he was invited by Congressman Antonio Delgado to attend the address.

Hickey was the first person to warn people about the PFOA water contamination in Hoosick Falls.

Officials knew about the contamination from the Saint Gobain plastics plant in 2014 but didn’t notify residents until two years later.

PFOA was later discovered in nearby Petersburgh and Bennington, Vt.
