TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — OSCaR, a space craft designed to collect junk from earth orbit is being designed at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
It is a small cube satellite built in three sections. The goal is that it will operate on its own by searching out with light and heat sensor for pieces of debris.
Once it locks onto the junk, it will close and fire off one of its four spring powered guns to return the debris back to earth.
