Organ donor numbers increase thanks to county initiative

Albany County Executive Dan McCoy vowed last April to get 500 people registered as organ donors. By the end of 2018, nearly 8000 people had registered through the initiative.

Experts say nearly 9000 New Yorkers are waiting for organ donations, and hundreds die each year while waiting on the list. They say New York ranks second to last on registered donors.
