‘Operation Safe Stop’ enforces school bus safety

On April 26th, law enforcement officers around New York State will participate in “Operation Safe Stop.”

During “Operation Safe Stop,” police officers will be on board school buses and in marked and unmarked patrol vehicles on selected bus routes that have a history of drivers illegally passing of school buses.

“Operation Safe Stop” seeks to promote school bus safety through education and enforcement efforts.
The program is a cooperative project supported by the New York State Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee, New York State Education Department, New York Association for Pupil Transportation, New York State School Bus Contractors Association, Student Transportation Industry, as well as state, county, city and local law enforcement agencies.

On Thursday April 27th, all law enforcement and related agencies will continue to follow school buses throughout the Capital District, in an effort to further enforce this initiative.
