Opening day for Trout fishing

April Fool’s Day means pranks and tricks, but to others, it means the start of the fishing season.

The NY Department of Environmental Conservation prepares by stocking streams with trout beforehand, but most fish caught are wild.

The DEC says there are over one million fishermen in the state and they get to fish about 20 times in a year. To help them out, the DEC has the New York Fishing Hunting and Wildlife app for iPhones and Android devices.
