Officials, local groups shed light on organ donations

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) - April is National Donate Life month is meant to raise awareness on the importance of organ donation.

On Thursday, Albany County Executive Dan McCoy joined the Center of Donation Transplant to get the word out.

Statistics show that 22 people die each day in the United States because they are not able to get an organ donation. 

Heart transplant recipient Dave Gray spoke, hoping to lower those statistics and remind the public about the importance of organ donors.

Right now, there are more than 9,000 people in New York waiting on the National Transplant list.
