NYS Special Olympics Spring Games held in Burnt Hills

BURNT HILLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) - Hundreds of athletes, coaches, and families from across the Capital Region gathered today for the New York Special Olympics Spring Games.

Athletes competed in three track and field events that they have been preparing for since the end of the winter season.

As Danielle Armstrong, the event specialist says competitions like these help in the athletes in all aspects of their lives.

“These athletes really do train year round for their events so they are trying their best at all times. That translates into the class room and translates into friendships and relationships,” Armstrong said.

The next event will be the regional games which start in two weeks.
