There’s been a shift in power for the District Attorney position in Rensselaer County. Mary Pat Donnelly has officially taken over after she was elected in November. She replaces former DA Joel Abelove.

One thing that will play a major theme during her time serving as the Rensselaer County District Attorney.

“Simple transparency is going to go a long way,” said Donnelly.

Donnelly will be tasked with taking over some high profile cases. The most notable, the 2017 quadruple homicide in Troy. She says this case is a top priority and has spent the first days in office reading through the file.

She wants the people of Rensselaer County to know she’s ready for the year ahead.

“I am here to make a change to promote safety in the community, and to promote confidence in the District Attorney’s office.”
