New Albany Fire Department chief named

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) - Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan announced she is appointing Deputy Fire Chief Joseph Gregory as the new Chief of the Albany Fire Department.

He will begin serving as chief beginning on July 29. This comes after current Fire Chief Warren Abriel announced his retirement.

“I am honored to accept the position as the next Fire Chief for the City of Albany Fire Department,” said Deputy Chief Gregory.  “I would like to thank Mayor Sheehan for this opportunity.  I am dedicated to leading this department forward while maintaining the rich traditions of the fire service.”

Gregory has served on the Albany Fire Department for almost three decades.

The Albany Common Council has 45 days to confirm or reject the appointment.
