SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Security footage may be the reason why an alleged rapist is behind bars.
Q’arayone Lomack was charged with first degree rape after being accused of raping a former neighbor at the College Suites in Schenectady. Police said Lomack did not know the victim.
He was also scheduled to be evicted from the complex that day.
Management alerted all residents to the incident via email, strengthening the existing safety rules.
United Group owns the complex. In a statement to NEWS10 ABC, the owners credit the surveillance system saying in part, “The safety of our residents and guests are our top concern, and our thoughts go out to the victim of this horrific crime and their family.”
A neighbor told NEWS10 residents often prop open the doors, which is something management has now outlawed.
