Beginning at 7:00 a.m. Wednesday, several sections of Union Street in Schenectady will be closed to westbound traffic as crews work to replace old gas lines in the city.
Union Street will be closed between Seward Place and Lafayette Street and Park Place from 7:00 a.m. Wednesday until 5:00 p.m. Westbound traffic will be detoured onto Seward Place, South Avenue and Jay Street. The closures are not expected to affect eastbound traffic.
Flaggers and signage will be out and in place to assist drivers, though commuters should avoid the area and consider alternate routes Wednesday during the closure.
The closures are expected to continue during the same hours Wednesday January 2nd through Friday January 11th as work continues to connect gas services to a recently installed gas main in the area.
