A Rotterdam woman was arrested Monday after police said she stole two tortoises from a local pet store.
Police said Dana Ward, 32, stole the tortoises from Everything Pets in Rotterdam by putting them in her purse. She also had a child with her during the alleged theft.
The incident was captured on surveillance video.
Ward was charged with one count of Petit Larceny and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Both the tortoises were returned to Everything Pets.
