The Associated Press reports Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is eying Troy as a campaign headquarters for a potential 2020 presidential bid. But local experts say, it’s no surprise she’d pick the Capital Region for home base.
Historian and former state assemblyman Jack Mceneny says Gillibrand’s family has a deep political history here in the Capital Region, adding to her clout.
Gillibrand graduated from Emma Willard before attending Dartmouth with a focus on Asian studies.
She was elected to the House of Representatives in 2006, and appointed to the Senate in 2009.
News 10 reached out to Gillibrand’s office for a comment on the potential presidential bid and did not hear back.
