Local cities manage multiple water main breaks

Local

Water main breaks are plaguing cities across the Capital Region. Albany dealt with five this past weekend alone, and Cohoes has had seven in the past six days.

Albany water commissioner Joe Coffey says many of the city’s pipes are past their life span. Mayor Shawn Morse of Cohoes says it’s also a financial stressor on the city to fix breaks.

Both cities use sewer cameras to do as much proactive work as possible.
