A local baseball team is getting ready for an upcoming game which will benefit a local family in need.
The roster for the “Saratoga horses” is made up of Saratoga county police officers, firefighters, and other first responders.
Many of them were called to the Broadbent’s home in Malta the night of the deadly fire earlier this month. They say when they went home that night they immediately decided that family would be the beneficiary of this game.
They have a fundraising goal of $10,000. Learn how you can help.
“We want to honor the family and throw out the first pitch. We haven’t decided the name yet, we do have it, but we’re going to keep that a surprise. Just do a bunch of fun things and celebrate the life of Eric who was also lost. This is going to be more of a celebration that night,” Greg Stack, Saratoga Horses Broadbent Family Fire Relief, said. “Back to Glenn, that guy is probably more heroic than us as firefighters. He went back in there without any gear, put his life on the line to rescue his family and we’re just pulling for him.”
The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. on June 9 at East Side field in Saratoga. They’ll be hosting the Ottawa Fire Department.
