Jewelry store owner arrested; accused of keeping consignment sales

GUILDERLAND, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The owner of David’s Unique Jewelers on Western Avenue in Guilderland was arrested Thursday on grand larceny charges.

Police say David Sellie was failing to return or compensate customers for jewelry on consignment or jewelry being repaired.

One victim told NEWS10 ABC Sellie siphoned thousands of dollars worth of jewelry from her family.

The owner of a neighboring business says Sellie is an honest man and doesn’t believe there was any malicious intent behind Sellie’s business operations.

Sellie was arraigned by Guilderland Town Justice John Bailey and released on his own recognizance. Sellie did not comment on the allegations and instead referred us to his lawyer, but we never heard back.

Police say the investigation into the business is on going and anyone with information is urged to contact the Guilderland Police.
