Ichabod Crane superindendent accused of DWI


VALATIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Ichabod Crane Superintedent Michael Vanyo is facing a number of charges including Driving While Intoxicated over the weekend. 

Police say they were called to a property damage motor vehicle crash on Maple Avenue in Wilton on Saturday. Vanyo, 51, is accused of leaving the scene after the crash.

He was charged with DWI, operating a motor vehicle with a BAC of 0.8 percent or greater, leaving the scene of property damage accident, and improper right turn.

Vanyo was processed and released to a third-party.

A special board meeting was held by the Ichabod Crane Central School District on Tuesday, April 9 to discuss the nature of the allegations. The board voted unanimously to accept an unpaid leave of absence from Vanyo until further notice. Assistant Superintendent Suzanne Guntlow is now the acting superintendent.
