A $15 million donation by an anonymous donor to Albany Law School was just announced to help continue the college’s pro bono clinic.
It’s the largest donation in the school’s history.
Ted De Barbieri said the donation will keep the lights on and pay for things like filing fees and staffing.
“The highlight of this last year has surely been our immigration clinic,” said Vice President of Institutional Advancement Jeffery Schanz.
“Our students provide them with council as they get ready for administrative law judges to actually have their asylum cases heard,” De Barbieri said.
Clients the school helps include those in the LGBT, veterans and immigrant communities.
“It’s all about impact. It’s about the impact it will make at Albany Law School, but also the impact this will make in the Capital Region,” Schanz said.
