ESPERANCE, N.Y. (NEWS10)--The entrances for the Creek Side trailer park have reopened after police blocked them off earlier this evening.
Michelle Amendola, a neighbor, said she was surprised to see a heavy police presence in her neighborhood around 4 o’clock this afternoon.
"I was like why is there so much traffic at the end of the road? Then I was like oh there’s trooper cars blocking the end of the road, and everyone is trying to dodge them to get in and out of the park. And I was like I have a wedding to go to people! Let me out," explained Amendola.
While Amendola was able to make it to the wedding she was heading to, other neighbors trying to get into the park were not allowed to get to their homes right away.
The New York State police, as well as members of the Schoharie county sheriffs office were on the scene for a few hours.
The Schoharie County Sheriff didn’t want to get into specifics of what happened, but he did tell News 10 that the incident was a mental health related issue.
"I’m not exactly sure what happened, but they must have resolved it and taken care of it," said Amendola. "Our troopers and sheriffs are doing a fantastic job and they dealt with it as quickly as possible."
