Governor calls for Cohoes Mayor Shawn Morse’s resignation

Governor Cuomo has called for the resignation of Cohoes Mayor Shawn Morse.

In a statement on Sunday evening, the governor stated that “the frightening and egregious evidence of domestic violence” cannot be ignored and that the mayor should no longer serve the people of Cohoes.

Governor Cuomo also stated that “the New York State Police have reopened their investigation based on new reported evidence.”

Mayor Morse told News 10 ABC that the public has not heard the whole story.

“This story has always been one-sided … and in order for me to defend myself, I would have to hurt people I love and that wasn’t an option … But since the Governor of New York has decided to weigh in and call for my resignation even after the investigation was cleared by state police … I will have no choice but to share the painful story of drug addiction and mental illness that has plagued my family over the last 15-months.”
