The Gloversville Police Department arrested a man they say struck an officer with his vehicle as he was passing by.
Police say members of the department were handling a disorderly conduct complaint on West Fulton Street near the intersection with South Burton Avenue Wednesday night.
While leaving the scene, an officer, standing on the terrace of the eastbound travel lane, was struck by a vehicle traveling west on West Fulton Street at around 8:25 p.m.
The officer was not injured but did seek medical attention.
Police say a member of New York State Police located the vehicle Thursday morning. Robert Bulger, 71, was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree assault, and leaving the scene of a personal injury automobile accident.
This is not the first time they’ve dealt with Bulger. Police say it had to do with impaired driving.
According to police, DWI is not contained in the current charges. Tests would be inadmissible in court due to the time that that had elapsed between the officer being struck and locating Bulger’s vehicle.
A not guilty plea was entered on behalf of Bulger. His bail was set at $50,000/$100,000 bond.
