Gloversville fatal hit and run crash investigation turned over to DA’s office

GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The Gloversville Police Department says they have turned over their investigation into the fatal hit and run that killed Lawrence “Doug” Irby to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office.

On Monday, the Gloversville Police Department worked with New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit, Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, and the Gloversville Fire Department to do additional accident reconstruction testing in the area of East Fulton Street and Littauer Place.

Part of the testing included the activated of a police siren and screeching of tires from hard braking.

The crash happened on April 13 at around 8:30 p.m. on East Fulton Street, between Judson Street and Littauer Place.

Irby, 61, was transported to the hospital following the crash where he later died. 

Last week, the driver and the vehicle has been located. The driver and two passengers who were in the car have been questioned regarding the crash.
