Financial problems plague Capital Region ambulance services


It costs ambulance services hundreds of dollars just to pull the vehicles out of the garage, and even more to administer services.

This poses a financial problem because many services only get reimbursed in part by state services like Medicare and Medicaid. That low reimbursement rate is just one reason why the Ambulance Service of Fulton County was recently forced to shut down.

Even with these problems, Governor Andrew Cuomo has proposed even more cuts to the reimbursement.
