A house fire early Friday morning spread to a nearby church that was converted into a home.
When crews arrived at the scene on Norfolk Road the home was fully engulfed in flames. That home was a total loss. The only thing standing by Friday afternoon was the chimney.
The fire spread from the initial home to a neighboring converted Baptist church. The New Marlborough Fire Chief says crews were able to save the converted home. Fortunately, both homes were empty at the time of the fire.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
At least eight fire departments responded to the scene Friday morning, due to the lack of a water supply in the area and the need to bring in water by tanker.
It was a tough week for fire crews in the area, as many of responding departments on Friday also responded to the scene of the murder-suicide fire in Sheffield on Wednesday.
