The man who drove his motorcycle drunk in a fatal crash last September was sentenced in Albany County Court Monday morning.
Alex Hamilton will spend one to three years behind bars for the death of his passenger Leanna Prudhomme.
During victim impact statements, Prudhommes family called for a steeper sentenced and the family says they will struggle to cope with the loss for the rest of their lives.
“He took everything from my whole family. He took the most beautiful young lady who had her entire life ahead of her and whether or not he’s remorseful or not is something he will have to live with every day of his life but we were definitely given a larger sentence. Our sentence is for life and we will never be able to get over this,” Leanna’s mother said.
Prudhomme just celebrated her 23rd birthday a few weeks before the crash.
