Millions of people are hitting the road for Thanksgiving on Wednesday and Thursday. 

If you are taking a longer road trip to get to your destination make sure you load these travel apps on your phone to make traveling easier and avoid holiday traffic.

To save money at the pump, us Gas Buddy. The app crowdsources gas prices, helping you find the cheapest places to fill up your tank along with your trip.

Traffic can be a nightmare during Thanksgiving travel, especially if you’re headed into or going through a major city. Download Waze, the app will get you around major construction, road blocks and heavy traffic. You will find alternate routes instead of sitting in traffic.

Roadtripper is a good app to download if you’re a planner. As you route your trip to and from your Thanksgiving destination the app will help you find places to eat, stop and rest.

Finally, Uber or Lyft are always handy to have.  Whether you need a ride to the airport or maybe you need to call on the ride sharing service after a holiday party during the long weekend, it’ll get you home safely. Both ride sharing services operate in the Capital Region.
