Crews respond to house fire in Waterford

WATERFORD, N.Y. (NEWS10) - Crews responded to a house fire in Waterford overnight.

The home on Fairview Avenue has been declared a total loss. The call for the fire coming in around midnight Friday.

The fire happened at a two-family house on the second floor.

A 10-year-old neighbor alerted his parents to the fire and who then called 911.

Four adults and one child inside were able to get out safely.

A couple of firefighters were also treated for heat exhaustion.

Officials say a live power line also sparked after one connecting the utility pole to the house caught fire.

Fire investigators are trying to determine a cause.
