GUILDERLAND, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Costco may be coming to the Capital Region.
Pyramid Management Group, which owns Crossgates Mall, has put into motion plans to begin building the chain.
Chief Building and Zoning Inspector at Guilderland Town Hall Jacqueline Coons said Pyramid made its plans official Friday afternoon.
“It’s currently vacant commercial land and some smaller properties that Crossgates has acquired, single family dwellings, and have been holding them until they were ready to develop the site,” Coons said.
An Coons said if there are no issues, the store could get approval as early as mid-2020.
“We’re going to take a hard look at traffic and all other potential impacts and it’s going to go through a very public process,” said Town Supervisor Peter Barber.
The closest Costco stores are in Springfield, Mass.; Colchester, Vt.; and New Britain, Conn.
