NASSAU, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Rep. Antonio Delgado and Rep. Paul Tonko toured the Dewey Loeffel Landfill Superfund site on Friday at the request of Town Supervisor Dave Fleming.
Fleming says the town has been dealing with contamination issues from the site since it was declared a superfund in 1980. Just recently, even more contamination was found, this time in a nearby neighborhood.
Fleming says he needs the help of the Federal government for proper clean up.
Both Delgado and Tonko promised to bring what they saw during the tour back to Capitol Hill. Following the tour, they met with people from town who are victims of the contamination.
