Community pays respects to Trooper VanNostrand

MAYFIELD, N.Y. (NEWS10) - The community paid their respects to Trooper Jeremy VanNostrand on Sunday at the Mayfield Junior/Senior High School.

A large American Flag hung from a fire truck at the high school where the trooper’s calling hours were held.

VanNostrand was a graduate of the school’s class of 2000.

He served with the state police for six years and prior to that, he worked for state corrections for about eight years.

He was tragically killed in a car crash last week on his way into work at the Fonda Barracks. He leaves behind a wife and their six-year-old daughter.

The signal 30 benefit fund is accepting donations on behalf of Trooper VanNostrand’s family.

His funeral will be held Monday morning in Schenectady.
