COHOES, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Shawn Morse is out as mayor of Cohoes.

Council President Christopher Briggs was sworn in as acting mayor during an emergency council meeting Tuesday evening.

The move comes after Morse pleaded guilty to felony wire fraud charges in federal court.

There was no vote Tuesday to remove Morse. The council president said that as soon as Morse pleaded guilty to a felony, his seat as mayor was vacated.
