City working to address ‘structurally unsound’ dam

The City of Troy is moving quickly to fix structural issues to the Ida Lake Dam.

The integrity of the dam is causing concern of a “catastrophic failure,” and the Department of Environmental Conservation is forcing the city to take action.

Problems started happening when Tropical Storm Irene hit the area in 2011, and engineers said the dam may only have 12 more months left.
