In an effort to close the digital divide for those who can and cannot access the internet in Albany, the Albany Public Library is leading the charge.
The library is partnering with the City of Albany to provide wi-fi equipment that will expand access to many residents. The city will maintain the devices once it’s up.
The equipment is slated to be put in street lamps surrounding Washington, Lincoln and Bleeker-Swinburne Parks. And the project has taken about three years to finally come through.
There is a little bit more time to wait. The City says it’s hoping to get the wi-fi up and running by the summer.
