Hunting for the perfect tree can be a hard decision, but taking care of your tree is simple.

When it comes to caring for your tree hydration is important. A real tree could last up to four weeks and tends to absorb about 65% of its water within the first week.

“Put it in warm water it opens up all the pours of the tree. Then use a preservative like prolong that will really make the tree last a long time,” said George Vogt Jr. of George’s Market & Nursery.

Fire safety is also key. Make sure your lights have no loose connections or cracked lamps.

Keeping your tree at least three feet away from any heat source will also help with fire prevention.
