Dozens of parents and caretakers across the Capital Region shocked to find that their car seats were not secure.
Albany County Sheriff’s deputies checked some 85 car seats for families at Crossgates Mall on Saturday.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, they only found one car seat that was installed correctly.
The county also went ahead and replaced five seats that were either recalled or damaged.
Saturday’s free checks were part of National Child Passenger Safety Week.
Over the last 10 years, Albany County Sheriff’s have checked more than 1,300 car seats, and of those they say only about 40 were properly installed.
