ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A winter storm is set to hit the Capital Region starting Monday night into Tuesday. According to Meteorologist Jill Szwed, this will be the biggest storm of the season yet.
The entire NEWS10 area is under a Winter Storm Warning between Monday afternoon and Wednesday morning. The high impact, long duration winter storm will bring heavy wet snow and gusty winds. Power outages are expected.
Albany County Executive Dan McCoy has declared a state of emergency for the county due to the impending storm starting at 8 p.m. on Monday. The order directs all Albany County departments and agencies “to take whatever steps necessary to protect life and property, public infrastructure, and provide such emergency assistance deemed necessary.”
Schenectady County has also declared a state of emergency. The emergency restricts travel throughout the county to essential personnel.
Due to the storm, many municipalities are declaring snow emergencies. Check out the list of snow emergencies and parking restrictions throughout the Capital Region. The list will be updated as more snow emergencies are announced.
Village of Colonie
The snow emergency is in effect from 9 p.m. on Monday until 9 p.m. on Tuesday. During this time, there will be no parking on village streets.
Menands
Beginning at 9 p.m. on March 13, all vehicles must be removed from village streets. Off-street parking is available at the Menands Public Library, Menands Park, the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society parking lot and the 800 North Pearl parking lot.
Rotterdam
No parking on town roads between 6 p.m. on March 13 to 6 p.m. on March 15.
Schodack
Schodack has declared a snow emergency. The snow emergency will be in effect from 11 p.m., Monday, March 13, until 8 a.m., Wednesday, March 15.
Village of Scotia
From 10 p.m. on March 13 until noon on March 15, parking will not be permitted on Village streets or in the municipal lot.
Brunswick
The snow emergency will start at midnight on Tuesday, March 14 and run until Wednesday, March 15 at noon.
North Greenbush
A snow emergency in North Greenbush will be in effect starting Monday, March 13 at 10 p.m. The emergency is set to end on Wednesday, March 15, at 8 a.m.
Mechanicville
Mechanicville has announced a snow emergency effective at 6 p.m. on Monday, March 13. For the emergency, all vehicles must be parked on the even side of the street for the first 24 hours and then switch to the odd side for the next 24 hours.
Glens Falls
Glens Falls has declared a snow emergency due to the impending storm. The snow emergency goes into effect at 8 p.m. Monday until 8 a.m. on Wednesday, March 15. During that period, on-street parking is banned.
Amsterdam
The snow emergency is in effect from 6 p.m. on Monday to 6 a.m. on Wednesday, March 15. No parking is allowed on city streets during this time. Residents can park in one of the city-owned parking lots.
Catskill
Starting March 13 at 8 p.m., vehicles should be parked on the odd side of the street until 8 a.m. Residents must follow alternate street parking and move to the opposite side of the street every 12 hours until the snow emergency is over.
Starting at 11 p.m. on Monday, there will be no parking on Main Street from Greene Street to Summit Avenue during the overnight hours. Those who usually park on Main Street should use municipal parking lots.
Chatham
There will be no parking on certain village streets from 6 p.m. on March 13 until further notice. Officials said residents are encouraged to park in the Depot Square Parking Lot.
Kingston
The City of Kingston has issued a snow emergency beginning at 7 p.m. on Monday. No parking is allowed on mandatory snow emergency routes for the duration or the emergency. Alternate side parking will remain in effect for the rest of the city.
Pittsfield, Massachusetts
In preparation for the impending winter storm, Pittsfield has declared a snow emergency starting at 7 p.m. on March 13. The snow emergency will run through 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15.
Dalton, Massachusetts
The snow emergency is in effect from 4 p.m. on Monday until 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15. No on-street parking is allowed during this time. Any vehicles parked on town roads could be towed at the owner’s expense.
East Greenbush
The snow emergency will last from Monday, March 13 at noon until Wednesday, March 15 at 6 p.m. There will be no parking on town roads during that time
Saratoga Springs
The snow emergency will begin Monday, March 13 at 7 p.m. and run until Thursday, March 16 at 7 p.m.
Village of Fultonville
The State of Emergency will be effective from 8 p.m. on Monday, March 13, until noon on Wednesday, March 15. Street parking will not be permitted from 8 p.m. on Monday through 6 a.m. on Thursday, March 16.
Whitehall
The snow emergency is in effect through noon on Wednesday, March 15. No parking is allowed on public streets for the duration of the emergency.
Granville
A snow emergency has been declared in the Village of Granville, and no parking will be allowed on village streets until Wednesday at noon. The parking restrictions are to help in snow removal, the safety of residents if any fire or EMS traffic is needed, and for workers.
