Boil water advisory issued for portion of Rotterdam

ROTTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) - The Schenectady County Department of Environmental Health has issued a boil water advisory for a small portion of the Town of Rotterdam due to a water main break.

The boil water advisory affects customers along Hollywood Avenue between Fairlane Road and Curry Road. All customers in the affected area should boil all water for drinking and culinary purposes until further notice.

It's the second time in just a week that they're dealing with the problem.

DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST.  Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one (1) minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water certified for sale by the New York State Department of Health.  Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills most bacteria and other organisms in the water.

Residents should boil water until further notice and will be informed via the media with additional information or when tests confirm that no harmful bacteria are in the system and you no longer need to boil your water.
