The Capital Region is seeing a boom when it comes to its film industry.
Big names in entertainment are coming to the Capital Region bringing big money to its cities. But it’s the film industry that’s not only adding to the economy but showcasing Upstate New York.
Down at Discover Albany Debby Goedeke said the movie Salt piqued Hollywood’s interest in the Capital Region, and word of mouth from that movie is paying off.
“I’ll actually use The Punisher as an example. They use almost 1,000 sleeping rooms at a hotel in downtown. They were here for about five days,” Goedeke said.
In less than a week about $625,000 was put into the economy.
And 30 percent tax credit for production, with another 10 percent for those over $500,000, is also drawing crews in.
