The Times Union Center is already estimating a big year for the City of Albany. With many big name acts and events heading to the venue, its local businesses that may reap the most benefit.
“It’s almost like Times Square landed in downtown Albany,” said Times Union Center General Manager Bob Belber.
Albany County invested more than $20 million to rebuild the Times Union Center’s facade.
“The economic impact of this facility in just the month of March is close to $70 million, $75 million,” Belber said.
Historically, Belber said they generate $100 million for the whole year.
“I think 2019 is going to be one of the best years that this facility will ever create in the way of economic impact,” Belber said.
Elton John will reportedly bring in 13,000 people and another 15,000 people will attend the Times Union Center for Mumford and Sons.
