Art teacher creates “Filling Bowls” project to support families in need

Inspired by the international project called “Empty Bowls,” Mrs. Taylor, an art teacher at Stevens Elementary School, started her own project called “Filling Bowls” to show her students that art can inspire a positive impact.

Her art students created small pinch pots, representing the idea of filling the bowls of others. Additionally, school faculty and staff submitted soup recipes to include in a cookbook.

The pinch pots and cookbooks were sold together for $10 to raise money for families at Stevens. They sold out of both, raising $1,850.00.

With the help of PriceChopper and Pizza Works, who donated to the cause, the school has been able to purchase more than 40 giftcards to be given out to Stevens families who could use a helping hand.
