An Amsterdam man is behind bars accused of smashing a window at Segels Jewelers and stealing more than $30,000 in jewelry.

Anthony Lee, 24, was arrested Wednesday after the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office says he smashed the front window of Segels Jewelers on State Highway 30 around 3:50 a.m. and stole more than $30,000 in jewelry.

Lee has been charged with 3rd degree grand larceny and burglary, both felonies. The Amsterdam Police Department also charged Lee with criminal possession of stolen property. The stolen items were allegedly found at Lee’s home. Lee was arraigned in Town of Amsterdam Court on $10,000 cash bail.

The Sheriff’s office says the investigation remains underway and more charges are possible.
