In a ceremony at the Times Union Center, the Albany County Sheriff’s Office swore in 13 new deputies.

According to Sheriff Apple, “This is a great day for the department, it’s a great day for Albany County.”

Starting tomorrow, the new deputies will begin an intense 6-week training program.

During the ceremony, Sherriff Apple also highlighted recent promotions in the unit and officially named two police dogs, K9 Jimmy and K9 Link, after two deceased members.

The ceremony was extra special for Sheriff Apple as one of the 13 new deputies is his son.
