Albany man charged in multiple incidents

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) - The 19-year-old man shot Friday evening on Third Street has been charged for possessing and firing a handgun himself during the shooting incident.

On Friday at approximately 4:20 p.m., officers responded to the area of Third Street and North Manning Boulevard for reports of shots fired.

Shortly after the call, staff from Albany Medical Center Hospital notified police that a male had entered the emergency room with a gunshot wound to the leg.

Jamir Hartfield of Albany was treated at the hospital for the gunshot wound to his leg and taken into custody.

Through the investigation, it was learned that Hartfield possessed a loaded handgun during the shooting incident on Third Street and also fired shots before being injured.

He was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon.

Hartfield was also charged with a separate count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon stemming from an incident on January 16, 2019, also in the area of North Manning Boulevard and Third Street.

The investigation into that incident revealed that Hartfield had possessed a loaded handgun.

Additionally, Hartfield was charged in connection with an incident that occurred on Anderson Drive in which vehicles were damaged.

On January 6, 2019, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Hartfield damaged two vehicles by standing and jumping on their hoods.

He was charged with Criminal Mischief and Trespass for his role in that incident.

The investigation into Friday’s shooting on Third Street remains ongoing.
