On Wedesday, the Capital Region BOCES conducted a scheduled drill at its Career and Tehcnical School Campus in Colonie. The problem? The drill was also broadcast to the administrative offices down the road where people did not know it was just a drill.
Colonie Police along with the BOCES emergency response team responded to notify people in the building that there was no real danger.
BOCES senior executive officer Jospeh Dragone says he hopes this is an experience they can learn from.
“You can’t anticipate everything the best you can do is anticipate as much as you can and learn from it whether it’s a drill or an unintended drill frankly like yesterday was. And keep improving.”
