In a presentation at Albany Medical, thousands of little red hats were delivered to newborns at local hospitals in honor of February’s American Heart Month.
“Little Hats, Big Hearts” is a nationwide program the American Heart Association created to bring awareness to congenital heart defects.
The most common birth defect in the nation, 1 in 100 children is born with a congenital heart defect. The Little Hats project raises awareness about these birth defects, in turn providing cozy warm hats to newborns.
The hats were made by more than one hundred volunteers in the Capital Region.
