TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Certain drones have been cleared for flight by the federal government, and now you can learn how to fly one at a local college.
Hudson Valley Community College is offering a drone flight training course this summer. The school gave a small sampling of the course on Tuesday.
Brian Pitre is the co-owner of SkyOp. He discussed training, gave a live demonstration and answered questions.
“We’re happy to have it here at HVCC to work with businesses and individuals so they can use that technology productively for commercial applications,” he said. “I’m pleased to report that today, the FAA has announced commercial applications, and it’s going to change how these businesses function.”
The course is designed for anyone that wants to fly small drones for fun or as a new career. Students will learn to fly and get insight into safe and legal flying practices.
