ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Congressman Paul Tonko announced more than $350,000 to help treat opioid abuse in Capital Region.

The Whitney Young Health Center in Albany will receive the federal funding through the affordable care act. Twelve upstate New York counties saw the number of heroin overdoses jump by an alarming 417% between 2009 and 2013.

In 2014 alone the State of New York saw 2,300 drug overdose deaths.
