ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Each year, the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on September 21. Protesters made their voices heard in Albany Wednesday afternoon.
Protesters who represent the Grannies for Peace movement gathered to push for Russia to end the war in Ukraine. For the International Day of Peace, the Grannies for Peace held a vigil focused on the impact of the invasion on Ukrainian children.
“Peace is not the absence of tension, it is the presence of justice, and we have much work to do,” said member Mabel Leon, reciting a Martin Luther King Jr. quote.
Grannies for Peace is a group of women who gather to bring attention to war around the world and the impact it has on innocent victims.
